Job Purpose & Summary: As an officer of WGM, the Treasurer is responsible for the organization's financial oversight, including cash flow, investments, and signing authority.
The Director of Finance oversees the department's financial operations, encompassing gift receipting, accounts payable, payroll, field accounting, investment accounting, and donor services, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and integrity.
Both positions are essential in representing and promoting the mission of World Gospel Mission (WGM) through Christlike service.
Employment Status: Full-time FLSA Status: Exempt Main Responsibilities: Treasurer Responsibilities: Monitor cash flow and bank balances.
Oversee WGM’s investments and oversee and review monthly statements.
Serve on various Board committees and prepare reports (Fairhaven, Finance, Audit, Retirement Plan and Investment). Maintain Fairhaven records and process Oaks Village credit payments upon receipt of lease payments.
Process month-end journal entries.
Ensure tax compliance and the filing of all necessary tax forms with the Internal Revenue Service for in-house trusts and endowments.
Manage financial risks related to investments and cash and contribute to mid-to-long term financial planning in collaboration with the CFO.
Maintain Health Savings Account (HSA) spreadsheet and send quarterly contributions.
Prepare and submit accurate and timely grant reports, including expense and accrual reports, for active grants.
Manage the yearly process of renewing WGM’s registration in the System for Award Management (SAM), including updating information and submitting required documentation.
Prepare audit reports (medical, Fairhaven, investments). Prepare calendar year info (Ed Fund 1099, life insurance fringe benefits, HSA & medical premium recap for W2s). Director of Finance Responsibilities: Oversee the department so that it runs efficiently and accurately with activities being performed in a timely manner.
Handle personnel issues according to policy.
Perform or assist auditor on field audits according to the rotation schedule.
Record and maintain life investment agreements so the annual payments can be processed.
Prepare Annual Statement for the State of California Department of Insurance.
Prepare annual work papers for investments.
Oversee corporate credit cards issued to employees.
Ensure monthly reports are prepared accurately and timely.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and other financial requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures for the Financial Services department.
Qualifications: A degree in accounting or related field; experience in accounting, fund accounting preferred.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, and procedures of the department.
A self-starter, able to work without constant supervision.
Ability to cope with detail and constant change.
Experience in cross-cultural ministry as well as understanding of the ministries of WGM is preferred.
Understands the need for the church to fulfill its role in the Great Commission.
