La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Clinical Screener I for the Behavioral Health Department in Chicago, IL.

This is a hybrid position.

This is a grant-funded position. Should the grant funding be diminished or ended this position will be terminated.

Job Summary:

La Rabida is currently recruiting for a full-time Clinical Screener I to join our Behavioral Health Department in Chicago, IL.

Serves as Integrated Assessment Clinical Screener I. Utilizes assessment instruments designed for this program to establish measures of child/client functioning and to determine types of community and social supports required; administers clinical interviews for the IA program to clients (children), birth parents, and other adults in the child’s life; creates IA template reports and provides other services necessary to assess the child and implement a care plan.

Essential Clinical Screener I Functions:

Reviews all relevant documentation (e.g., court, medical, school, and mental health records) and integrates findings into the Integrated Assessment (IA) report.

Conducts IA interviews with children, caregivers, and other involved adults to assess service needs and determine appropriate referrals; completes interviews in the child's home.

Administers age-appropriate developmental and mental health screening tools, makes referrals based on results and clinical observations, and ensures tool outcomes align with the final IA report.

Writes comprehensive IA reports incorporating historical, clinical, and legal information, then presents findings for supervision and participates in weekly clinical reviews.

Collaborates with Permanency Workers and Supervisors to develop service plans, attend family meetings, and maintain communication throughout the assessment and report-writing process.

Completes and submits required assessments (e.g., CANS), case files, contact sheets, and participates in consultations, quality assurance, and research activities to support program standards.

What we need from you:

Education: Ph.D./Psy.D., LCSW or LCPC. Psychologists and social workers must be licensed in Illinois. Psychologists must have completed an APA-accredited internship in clinical child or pediatric psychology

Related Work Experience: Three years of post-graduate experience with the population of children served by this program. Must have child welfare experience

Licensure/Certification: CPR - only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted. Valid Driver's License, auto-insurance (La Rabida strongly recommends that the employee maintain the following liability limits: Automobile liability/$100,000 per person per accident; bodily injury/$300,000 aggregate per accident; property damage/$50,000 per accident; and automobile medical payments/$1,000 per person.) Requires use of personal cell phone.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all personnel involved in this program – children, parents, foster parents, relatives of children, DCFS staff, community agency staff, physicians, peers, government agencies, school personnel, etc. Must have access to an automobile and maintain adequate auto insurance. Also requires the use of a personal cell phone.

Compensation Information:

Pay Range: $64,000 - $73,000
