Job Summary:
As a CNC Machinist, you will independently set up and operate computerized numerically controlled machine tools to perform precise machine operations on blind fastener components. Your expertise in CNC machining and troubleshooting will ensure the production of high-quality components that meet designated specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up CNC machines, including adjustments to tooling and collets, while utilizing chucker automatic load systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling setup, work holding, and operation of auto-loading CNC machine tools.
Interpret drawings, programs, and documentation to visualize required machining and sequence of operations.
Input CNC commands consistently with setup procedures, filling out setup cards and performing dry runs for verification.
Identify and report programming and operational errors, collaborating with appropriate personnel for corrections.
Provide accurate counts, complete documentation, and maintain daily production logs or worksheets.
Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to ensure efficient workflow.
Maintain accuracy in the SYMIX database by recording work progress promptly and effectively.
Collaborate within a team, participating in problem-solving, team building, and continuous improvement activities to enhance production processes, quality, and productivity.
Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with colleagues.
Assist other team members as required to support overall production operations.
Qualifications:
Education / Training: Proficiency in reading and writing English at the level required in company shop documents. Demonstrated mathematical abilities involving fractions, decimals, trigonometry, and geometry relevant to machining operations. Generally equivalent to a journeyman trade school graduate. Math and English proficiency demonstrated through company testing as required.
Experience: 3-5 years of work experience or equivalent expertise in setting up and operating Computerized Numerical Control machines, tools, and equipment similar to those used by the company. Proficiency in Statistical Process Control and the use of precision measuring instruments like comparators, indicators, calipers, and micrometers. Capability to read and interpret precision drawings
