Senior Controls Engineer - Conveyor Group
As part of the Duckworth Conveyor Controls Group, you will be an integral part of our team, serving
customers who are automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.
Our Controls Group designs, builds, and integrates controls systems for automotive paint
process systems and conveyors.
The Senior Conveyor Controls Engineer will be responsible for conveyor controls system
development and integration, while also serving as a team leader when necessary.
10+ years of conveyor controls design and commissioning experience is required.
Responsibilities to include:
Review customer specifications and scope of work to gain a thorough understanding of the project requirements
Complete project documentation (internal and customer)
Design new and / or modify existing controls systems (hardware and software)
Complete calculations (heat, power, voltage drop, etc.)
Obtain customer approval of the new / modified designs
Specify, obtain customer approval, and purchase materials and components
Coordinate tasks with other Engineers and support personnel
Coordinate with Project Management
Perform field checks
Coordinate with the panel shop to build electrical assemblies and panels
Panel shop validation
Installation support
Field commissioning and validation (De-bug, internal validation, customer validation, start-up and stand-by)
System as built documentation
Internal and external training
Work with Project Management on bulletin and field order estimates
Candidate must be:
Focused on safety
A self-starter and problem solver who can perform with a minimum amount of supervision, pay attention to details, and be organized
Knowledgeable regarding national electrical codes and controls standards (NEC, NFPA, etc.), lockout-tagout, and automotive (assembly plant) industry standards
Mechanically inclined and be able to analyze mechanical systems to provide a controls solution
Able to communicate effectively, work well with others, and be customer focused.
Able to monitor the budget and schedule while maintaining quality
Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required
Able to work overtime when required to maintain the schedule
Proficiencies required:
MS Office (Excel, Word, Project)
AutoCAD
PLC Programming (Rockwell-Allen Bradley)
HMI programming (Rockwell-Allen Bradley, Siemens)
Variable speed drives
Encoders and resolvers
Distributed power, control, and communications (Ethernet, etc.)
Distributed motor controls (ArmorStart, Movi-Mot, etc.)
RFID systems
Bar-Code systems
Part and carrier tracking
Safety systems (light screens, safety scanners, safety gates, etc.)
Experience with typical automotive conveyors found in BIW, GA, and Paint Shops is required:
