LHH is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of patient registration, telephone, reception, and clerical duties. You will be responsible for determining the proper financial class, maintaining database integrity, ensuring quality care for patients, educating parties about business practices and insurance coverage, and assisting patients and families in meeting their financial obligations.
This is a rotating schedule (7 days a week- night shift) and fully onsite, W2 contract-to hire role.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients and refer them to appropriate areas.
Alert medical staff for patients with emergent medical problems.
Interview patients to obtain and verify demographic and insurance information.
Verify insurance coverage for primary, secondary, and tertiary plans.
Utilize managed care and insurance eligibility programs to determine coverage and authorization requirements.
Establish patient financial class at registration; ensure appropriate forms are completed and routed.
Register patients in the system; enter accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information.
Process direct, urgent admissions and coordinate with the Nursing Supervisor.
Communicate deposit requirements to patients and families; refer to financial counseling as needed.
Collect payments for services; verify and process cash, check, and credit card payments.
Balance and reconcile daily cash register receipts; prepare bank deposits.
Answer incoming calls and transfer to appropriate areas; make outgoing calls as needed.
Document patient account information in the system.
Provide registration support to other facilities as needed.
Pre-register patients for selected procedures; arrange for deposits/pre-payment.
Prepare and process daily admission notifications and authorizations.
Coordinate with financial and clinical staff for timely updates.
Compile daily census information and assign bed accommodations.
Handle patient problems and refer difficult cases to supervisors or Patient Advocates.
Additional Requirements:
Previous office/clerical experience.
Strong customer service, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to provide culturally sensitive care and service.
Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
Attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
6+ months of medical front office experience.

Workdays: Sunday to Saturday (rotating schedule)
Working Hours: 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM HST
