KMR is searching for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
SUMMARY
KMR’s client is the world leader in packing equipment design and manufacturing for over 85 years.
Our client provides technical services, equipment, engineering, spare parts, and consumables to secure market to the Pulp and Paper industry.
The SMDE conducts necessary research incidental to specific design problems and recommends design modifications as needed.
This position includes leading teams of designers and detailers to meet / exceed customer expectations and reports to the Engineering Manager
The ideal candidate should be proficient in CAD software with hands on experience working in manufacturing with experience in the equipment design and packing industries.
This is a promotable position providing cost effective solutions to leading edge electromechanical equipment opportunities in the Pulp and Paper industry
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate major design projects including new products & custom orders
Perform engineering calculations: power transmission, pneumatic & hydraulic design and stress analysis.
Utilize 2D / 3D modeling CAD systems
Knowledge of ISO:2009
Direct & coordinate manufacturing / assembly of mechanical equipment
Direct the manufacturing of prototype products or systems.
Provide technical information to sales / service departments
COLLABORATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
Confer with engineers, manufacturing, to clarify, resolve problems & develop a design.
Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Engineering Coordinators, Sales Managers, the Controls Department
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), self motivated who can work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of industrial handling / packaging machinery design plus knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic. pneumatic, motion and control components
Creative thinker, who pays attention to detail with the application of engineering principles in a manufacturing environment
Three years leading / managing a development team with strong ability / experience to mentor junior staff, delegate tasks and ensure technical quality
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Mechanical Design Engineer degree or equivalent
Masters' Degree or Executive Education in a business or relate field is a plus
Ten years hands -on engineering experience, three years leading teams, seven years in a manufacturing environment.
