Description:

This position involves providing patient care including taking vitals, performing assessments, and administering medications.

Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient status and needs is essential.

The unit utilizes an Epic charting system and Pyxis medication cabinets for efficient documentation and medication management.

Floating to other general medicine floors may be required, primarily covering adult overflow.

The unit has a 13 bed observation capacity with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:5, in addition to a Charge Nurse resource.

Scrubs of any color are permitted, with the exception of childish cartoon characters and micro fleece material.

Training includes a day of Epic inpatient nurse training, followed by two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor who is familiar with the unit.

This is a new unit seeking adaptable, teamwork-oriented, and positive clinicians.

Patients typically have a shorter length of stay compared to general medical units, with an average turnover of approximately 1.5 times in a 24-hour period.

Candidates should be aware of and adhere to the drug-free campus policy, including a requirement for a negative drug screen.
