AEP Hawaii is hiring a Cybersecurity Architect on Oahu with deep expertise in cloud & security architecture.

Overview:

The Cybersecurity Architect leads the design and integration of secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise-wide security architecture across IT, OT, applications, and network infrastructure. This role ensures security requirements are fully embedded in the organization's systems and technical architecture, supporting both business and mission-critical operations.

Experience:

8+ years in cybersecurity, cloud security, or enterprise architecture.

Deep knowledge of cybersecurity threats, risk management, security frameworks, and enterprise technologies.

Proven ability to integrate security into existing architectures and recommend forward-looking solutions.

Strong experience across a range of technologies including Unix/Windows, TCP/IP, cryptography, application security, mobile devices, and database systems.

Proficiency in secure programming across languages such as Python, Java, C++, SQL, and scripting tools.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100), AWS Certified Security, GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect

Responsibilities:

Design and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity architecture aligned with enterprise goals, spanning infrastructure, applications, networks (including wireless), OT, and end-user environments.

Collaborate with internal architects and teams to ensure consistent implementation of security best practices.

Develop secure technical solutions, architecture standards, and migration strategies that support enterprise transformation and resilience.

Act as a cybersecurity SME in high-level strategic planning, project implementation, and technology adoption decisions.

Advise project teams on secure system design, integration, and risk mitigation strategies.

Conduct technical assessments, cost analysis, and detailed work estimation for security-related initiatives.

Lead evaluation of emerging technologies and pilot new tools to improve security posture.

Support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks, regulations, and internal standards (e.g., SOX, SCADA security).

Mentor team members and contribute to enterprise documentation, filings, and incident response readiness.
