Retail Information Technology Manager

The Retail IT Manager is a hands-on IT leader with infrastructure and systems management experience, a strong background in retail technology operations, and a proven ability to lead teams and ensure secure, high-uptime environments across multiple sites.

Position Overview

Hawaii's leading energy distribution company is seeking a hands-on Retail IT Manager to lead infrastructure and technology initiatives across a statewide retail network. The ideal candidate will drive strategic improvements, ensure compliance and uptime for payment and POS systems, and provide expert technical support to retail operations. This is a newly created leadership role supporting the organization's growth in retail operations and is an opportunity to shape the IT function for a State-wide organization.

Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of IT operations for retail locations across the state, including POS systems, payment infrastructure, and secure network connectivity

Oversee infrastructure management, help desk support, vendor coordination, and IT project implementation

Ensure security and regulatory compliance (PCI DSS) across all retail systems

Collaborate cross-functionally to plan and execute new system rollouts and upgrades

Supervise and mentor IT staff and manage outside contractors and vendors

Drive proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment

Skills

Deep knowledge of POS systems and retail IT operations

Proficiency in SQL, .NET, IIS, Microsoft Access, and SSL

Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including Windows Server, VMware, Cisco, Palo Alto, and SAN/NAS

Familiarity with SAP, Oracle databases, Microsoft 365 administration, and network security standards

Excellent project management, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

5-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems management and/or technical support, preferably in retail, fuel, or restaurant environments

Experience managing POS systems and ensuring PCI DSS compliance

Experience managing staff, vendors, and IT projects

Comfortable working in a multi-site, customer-focused retail environment
