Controls Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot electrical control systems for industrial equipment and automated machinery. This role plays a key part in maintaining production efficiency, supporting process improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement PLC and Motion Control systems, primarily using Allen-Bradley CompactLogix.

Program and integrate control systems including EtherNet/IP, IO-Link, ModBus TCP, and discrete I/O.

Develop, debug, and maintain HMI, PLC, and vision system applications.

Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to support new product development and process optimization.

Provide hands-on production support, troubleshoot electrical issues, and improve equipment reliability.

Create and maintain technical documentation including schematics, engineering reports, and test procedures.

Manage projects from design to deployment, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and performance standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical controls design, programming, and system integration.

Strong background in PLC programming and automation, especially with Allen-Bradley systems.

Familiarity with vision systems (Keyence preferred), HMI interfaces (Turck), linear actuators (IAI), and robotics (Fanuc 6-axis).

Experience with power distribution, sensor integration, and industrial I/O devices.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical layouts.

Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and debugging.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and external partners.
