Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking three experienced CNC Machinists. This role involves setting up and operating conventional lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, portable machining equipment, CNC lathes, and vertical mills machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. You will read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, dismantle machinery or equipment using proper hand tools, and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.

Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.

Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.

Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine as required.

Verify conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.

Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.

Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and laser.

Confer with engineers, production personnel, maintenance technicians, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and management.

Continue to learn machinist and maintenance knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.Essential Skills

Experience with CNC lathes, vertical mills, and machining centers

Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings

Proficiency with conventional lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, and portable machining equipment

Skill in machine setup, programming, and operation

Familiarity with Haas, Mazak, and Fanuc controls

Knowledge of machining, machine shop operations, and maintenance tasksAdditional Skills & Qualifications

Strong understanding of machining principles and techniques

Ability to work with both metallic and non-metallic parts

Experience with measuring and inspection tools

Proficiency in calculating and setting machining controls

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy

Work Environment

This is a heavy industrial environment where no part of the plant is climate controlled. You will be working around the elements, with very hot conditions in the summer and very cold conditions in the winter. At times, you will be working around furnaces, which increases the heat. The campus is extensive, with hundreds of acres of land. You will be hired into a specific department (Cast house, cold mill, hot mill, roll shop, or Element 13) and will remain there. Each department has its own manager and training program. The facility is tobacco-free, and no jewelry is permitted on-site. Initially, you will work the day shift for a few months until the team is fully trained and ready to start their night shift coverage in the machine shop. Day shift hours are 8-hour days, Monday to Friday, and night shift hours are 3-11 PM, Monday to Friday.

This is a Permanent position based out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $82680.00/yr.
