The Student Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Rajaram and a postdoctoral scientist, receiving training in a wide range of lab techniques, including malaria parasite culture, PCR, cloning, immunofluorescence assays, and other advanced methodologies relevant to their project. In addition to research activities, they will assist with general lab maintenance tasks such as preparing reagents, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean workspace. The student will also be expected to read scientific literature, analyze data, and formulate next steps in their research.

Required or Desired Skills:

Basic Laboratory Skills

Basic understanding of molecular biology, genetics, molecular biology, biological chemistry.

The student is expected to have knowledge in microbiology, preferably parasitology. Relevant coursework needed includes General Biology and General Chemistry.

The student will be trained on specific skills relevant to their project.

Responsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
