The Revenue Cycle Services Coordinator will provide specialty vision therapy and binocular vision clinic check-out services by re-verifying insurance, posting accurate optometric procedures and diagnostic codes, collecting exam and material fees and co-pays. Responsible for posting payments for services and materials, determining patient and insurance responsible balances; entering payments, adjustments, refunds and discounts in EHR software. Maintains compliance with clinic billing and accounting procedures. Understands and explains eye examination procedures and fees to patients; answers patient questions based on medical record information. Responds to spectacle, vision therapy, binocular vision, and medication/medication refill requests from patients and attending optometrists. Orders and manages vision therapy clinic supplies and inventory supplies. Will triage phone and in-person patient encounters detailing visual and ocular complaints, and ocular emergencies; make independent decision regarding scheduling appointments in the appropriate clinic service. Will be responsible for assisting patients' arrivals, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage. Understand HIPAA policy and present HIPAA information to patients. Supports Medical Records Department operations in accordance with state/federal regulations and college/university procedures governing medical records handling. Understands HIPAA and data entry of confidential patient information. Performs Release of Information duties in a secure and confidential manner. Prepares and reviews medical records and prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, scans documents/images into EHR and conducts quality reviews. Provides copies of receipts and Rx's to patients. Communicates with other medical providers appropriate patient care and referral information. May perform these duties in other departments or other clinic locations. Performs other administrative duties as needed.

Required Education Per Classified Civil Service Classification specs:
High School Diploma or GED
Desired Education and Experience:
One year experience in optometric or health care setting
Graduate of two year optometric technician program, optician, or apprentice optician
Knowledge of practice management software
Understanding of medical and administrative procedure
PC Knowledge and interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
Pay Rate: $17.51/hour
Pay will be determined from candidate education, experience, and internal equity.
