What You'll Do:

The Zoonotic Disease Program Administrator with work within the Bureau of Infectious Diseases to administer, coordinate & implement policies & procedures for Zoonotic Disease program initiatives according to state laws, national compendia, & national & state guidelines. Initiatives may include zoonotic disease control, rabies control, Harmful Algal Blooms, public health emergency preparedness. Additional duties may include:

Provide technical advice & consultation to medical providers, local health departments, veterinarians, state & local agencies & public concerning diseases that span the One Health spectrum (e.g., potential rabies exposures, salmonellosis, campylobacteriosis, multi-drug resistant organisms with potential agriculture epidemiologic links).

Work with other bureaus concerning food safety, environmental issues & emerging pathogen initiatives that involve animals & zoonotic diseases.

Coordinate with public health, veterinary, & agricultural agencies to advance zoonotic disease prevention & One Health promotion efforts.

Support the State Public Health Veterinarian & Zoonotic Disease Program Chief with administrative duties (e.g., preparing memorandums, letters of support, grant applications, progress reports, supporting program activities).

Participate in state & national committees, working groups, & interagency task forces (e.g., Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists Zoonotic & Vector-borne Subcommittee, One Health Working Group).

Represent administrator at meetings & conferences with state, federal & community agencies.

Oversee & provides budget preparation & administration.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.

OR

Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

OR

Completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

OR

1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 2, 63123.

OR

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
