GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Goal: To help Tree of Life Christian Schools fulfill its mission and purpose through supporting the accounting functions of the organization.
Responsible to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Type of Position: Non-exempt/hourly
POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Staff Accountant is responsible for a comprehensive scope of accounting tasks and serves as the backup for payroll processing via ADP for Tree of Life Christian Schools. This role supports internal customers with financial and purchasing related questions and is responsible for ensuring that cycle deadlines are met. This role performs a variety of duties involving general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing and reviewing, entering, and auditing associated data; and ensures adherence to established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. The role represents Tree of Life to outside constituents including other business, government entities etc. The position also supports the CFO with a variety of Financial related duties and projects.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education/experience (desired)
1-3 years relevant experience working in accounting/bookkeeping
Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel/GoogleSuite (desired)
Experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Knowledge of payroll procedures and payroll services such as ADP (preferred)
Experience in an academic environment or not for profit organization (preferred)

JOB DESCRIPTION - Essential Functions
Work closely with the CFO in all financial aspects of the school including general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing and payroll.
Oversee Accounts Receivable, Cash Receipts and Asset systems and performs weekly posting of entries.
Support preparation of financial statements, budgets and associated reports.
Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions.
Reconcile entries into the accounting system.
Produce journal entries to be used in the school's accounting software.
Assist with various research projects and/or special projects as directed by the CFO
Assist the CFO with school audits.
Collaborate with the CFO in the issuing of employee wage statements necessary for filing tax information (w-2, 1099, 1095 etc.)
Be available to staff members to assist with financial matters related to their employment at Tree of Life.
Maintain compliance with governmental regulations and changing regulatory environments by staying current on law and rules that may affect compliance.
Contribute to school effectiveness by assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s financial policies and procedures.
