Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is the steward of the general ledger (and associated sub-ledgers) and engages in dynamic partnerships with business leaders to drive performance and deliver results. The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining a sound controls environment that complies with the Company’s internal accounting policies and Sarbanes Oxley. This role is a critical part of the overall talent pipeline, especially in an environment where the business is growing rapidly, and future business leaders will be required.

Essential Functions

Accountable for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing and resolution of discrepancies

Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations

Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows

Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data

Effectively communicate changes in income statement as well as the derivative fluctuations in the balance sheet

Collaborate with other departments and operations managers to ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly

Provide support and guidance to junior accountants

Serve as steward for multiple Sarbanes Oxley accounting cycles, ensuring data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties and adherence to internal and external regulations

Manage the implementation process for new automation software and other tools

Required Education and Experience

4-year accounting degree required; CPA certification a plus

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Experience with systems implementation and integration

Knowledge of financial reporting processes

Intermediate Excel Level

Operational experience a plus

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in public accounting and/or industry specific
