Position Description: The Winnebago Towables Director of Engineering will ensure the design and production of products that deliver a positive ownership experience for Winnebago customers.
Work closely with Product Managers, Plant Managers, Quality Control, Codes & Compliance, and other Operations teams to develop efficient systems capable of safely manufacturing and servicing high-quality products for Winnebago Towables.
Key Areas of Responsibility * Serve as the working leader of the Product Engineering team to deliver products that exceed dealer and retail customer expectations.
* Develop, improve, and maintain standards, processes, and metrics for the engineering team.
* Build and motivate a strong, capable team by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
* Collaborate closely with General Managers and Product Managers to align cost, quality, and functionality with the product vision.
* Ensure products and processes are validated prior to launch to enable smooth manufacturing integration.
* Investigate and implement manufacturing improvements to reduce costs, enhance reliability, increase efficiencies, and elevate product quality.
* Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives to support the transition from "Inspected-In Quality" to "Built-In Quality." * Support the development and implementation of a Quality Systems Manual.
* Act as a key liaison between Winnebago Towables, ATG, and other enterprise engineering leaders.
* Assist in the evaluation and protection of intellectual property where relevant.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements * 10+ years of engineering experience with manufactured products, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
* Embodies and consistently demonstrates Winnebago's core values.
* Self-starter with high integrity and a strong bias for action.
* Proven collaborator with the ability to influence and build alignment across teams.
* Strong analytical skills with a structured, detail-oriented approach to solving complex problems.
* Proficient in 3D CAD, AutoCAD preferred * Experience with RV products, systems, and manufacturing methods.
* Solid knowledge of product development processes, including the use of safety and risk mitigation tools.
* Experience working with non-metallic materials, structural design, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). * Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills with a strategic mindset.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field preferred.
