Compensation:

$66,240 - $79,488

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)

General Summary:

Under the direction of the manager, Creative Services, work with project teams to conceptualize, design and present organizational communication materials for various audiences including retired and active Ohio educators, contributing employers, investment and government entities and internal staff. Combine professional design skills, commercial awareness and technical knowledge to cultivate and strengthen visual communications for State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio).

Summary of Responsibilities:

Work with account representatives (editors), graphic and web designers, production staff and clients to obtain a clear understanding of communication needs. Interpret those needs, design and present comprehensive layouts using various mediums, while ensuring open and efficient workflow to meet the system’s goals.

Develop effective solutions for the system’s communication needs with a clear, consistent corporate image and identity positioning for target audiences. Guide assigned projects from conception to final review and output.

Develop high-quality visual assets for digital, print and social media that address organizational needs including presentations, brochures, newsletters, marketing materials, forms and other corporate communications. Determine project requirements to identify any design trend shifts, cost savings and production streamlining.

Assist in setting up and operating cameras, lighting and basic audio equipment. Capture video content under the guidance of senior graphic designers.

Create/edit short- and long-form video content, motion graphics, and simple animations.

Summary of Qualifications:

Associates degree in graphic design, communications or related field required.

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications or related field preferred.

Three to five years’ related experience preferred.

Strong foundation in the discipline of design — strategic visual storytelling, concept development and presentation, color theory, composition and typography required.

Proficient in industry standard software and utilities including, but not limited to: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office required.

Proven work experience with photography and video equipment and production preferred.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines with minimal direct supervision required.
