Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Manufacturing Supervisor will manage the assigned production area by overseeing the day to day operations, maintaining the efficiency, scrap and improvement targets, and optimizing the headcount of the department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Supervise, train, and evaluate associates;
• Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations;
• Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, utilizing knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities and staffing requirements;
• Review daily production reported through DPS/Biznet/QAD and verify accuracy. Print out daily production audit report for each team leader to audit the DPS against the reported production and ensure that any discrepancies are corrected following the procedure set in place;
• Coordinate manufacturing activities between all departments to insure production and quality of products meet specifications;
• Assign workers to specific projects, based on knowledge of production methods, processes, machines and equipment;
• Supervise special projects as assigned to enhance the functionality of associates, equipment, and processes;
• Support and direct the maintenance staff in equipment upgrades and repair as needed;
• Implement safety and good housekeeping standards;
• Keep management informed of developments as they occur;
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and company policy;
• Other duties assigned by immediate Manager on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Management or related field is required from an accredited institution. 4-6 years of related experience may substitute for a college diploma. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience in the automotive field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft skillset is required. Must have the ability to communicate across all departments both internal and external. Must be able to work with urgency and manage pressure. This position must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
The Manufacturing Supervisor will have between 20 and 40 direct/indirect associates reporting to it at any given time. This will include Team Leaders, Material Handlers, and all production associates assigned to the area.
Difficulty of Work:
Difficulty of work consists of the ability to make decisions based upon data analysis. The Manufacturing Supervisor will base the decisions on production plans, customer requirements, efficiency trends, scrap trends, and available workforce. Quality decisions will be based on normal quality data such as SPC, Control Plans, and test results. Communication will be a very important part of these decisions.
Responsibility:
The Manufacturing Supervisor will have some autonomy while working within the assigned production area. This position will require information from other manufacturing departments, Production Control, and the Quality Department with some information being supplied by the Design Department. This position is supported by the Director of Manufacturing.
Personal Work Relationships:
Personal work relationships consist of working with the managers of the other manufacturing departments and the supervisors of those departments. This also includes working with the Production Control Department, specifically the Production Planners and the Quality Department.
Physical Effort:
Physical effort consists of being aware of the surroundings while on the shop floor. There could be some heavy lifting during abnormal situations of up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. Walking will be a large portion of the day.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions consist of a normal manufacturing environment. Normal PPE is required such as safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Special attention to work environment and areas surrounding the equipment is critical.
