Columbus College of Art Design (CCAD) FT Faculty (Open Rank) in UX Design Chair of Master of Professional Studies CCAD is seeking a faculty member to lead our Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in User Experience (UX) Design program, and related industry partnerships.
We are looking for candidates with expertise primarily in UX and/or design, with secondary experience in business, UI/interaction design, human-centered design, content development, or experience design practices that span both physical and/or digital applications.
We encourage applications from individuals with a strong record of teaching and leadership experience, proven skill in online course teaching, and a track record of professional practice and industry engagement.
Candidates with established connections to the local UX industry in Columbus and the broader Midwest are desired.
In this position, the faculty member will develop and teach courses in human-centered design, UX design, user research, service design, and interaction design.
The ability to build, test, and innovate courses and programs within the structure of an academic institution is essential to the role.
This chairship features a teaching requirement.
Faculty rank will be determined based on prior FT teaching experience.
Although CCAD doesn't offer tenure track positions, the college does offer multi-year FT teaching employment agreements.
This position will report to the Associate Dean of Design.
Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the MPS program focused on human-centered design and UX.
Collaborate to provide a distinct, challenging, and inclusive learning culture that prepares tomorrow's creative leaders for professional careers.
Provide managerial support for the major, including designing innovative curriculum, recruiting and retaining faculty, and promoting student learning and success.
Collaborate with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to meet institutional goals, including recruiting students to the MPS program.
Foster relationships with local industry partners and UX professionals to support student learning and career development Teach between 4 and 6 graduate or undergraduate courses per year.
Maintain a professional practice and contribute to college service Qualifications: A master's degree is required, along with strong professional experience in design, interaction design, human-centered design, and/or UX design.
Candidates with a graduate degree in a relevant discipline and established industry connections in the Columbus UX community are encouraged to apply.
Faculty Resources Professional Development: CCAD faculty have access to a variety of internal funding sources to support professional practice, travel, research, and projects.
Faculty will also have opportunities to collaborate with local firms and organizations to enhance the program's industry relevance.
