Founded in 2024, Surat Van Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing biodiversity and climate resilience through the Miyawaki method of forestation . Our mission is to mitigate climate change, sequester carbon, and regenerate urban spaces into vibrant green havens — all through strong community engagement and public-private partnerships .
Role Overview:
As Project Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping and implementing Surat Van Foundation’s urban forest initiatives. You will work directly with the Foundation's directors to coordinate multiple ongoing and upcoming urban forestation projects across Surat. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with community members, government bodies, and private stakeholders, ensuring that each project delivers meaningful ecological and social impact.
️ Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate day-to-day activities of Miyawaki forestation projects from planning to execution
Collaborate closely with the Director to support project design, partnerships, and implementation
Liaise with government officials, corporate partners, and community groups
Manage volunteer outreach, training, and on-ground participation
Monitor project timelines, maintain documentation, and support regular reporting
Organize awareness campaigns, green drives, and educational workshops
Ensure all initiatives align with the Foundation’s sustainability goals and ecological best practices
Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Social Work, or a related field
1–3 years of experience in project coordination, community-based work, or sustainability roles
Proficient in English, Gujarati, and Hindi — both written and verbal
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
Comfortable working in the field and engaging directly with diverse stakeholders
Prior experience with environmental conservation agencies, especially those involved in tree plantation or afforestation efforts, will be considered a strong advantage
Remuneration:
Up to INR 40,000 per month, based on skills and experience
