You will provide strategic CFO services, lead client teams, and oversee the quality of deliverables to our diverse portfolio of clients as well as drive new business for our growing team. Your work will be meaningful and exciting, supporting businesses that are going through transformation, growth, process improvement, fundraising, preparing for an exit, and/or looking to acquire other companies.
Job Description:
This is a hands-on role for an entrepreneurial CFO who loves networking and sharing our story and wants to work with companies in diverse industries. You will have the opportunity to leverage your network to drive new business opportunities for the company. You will be the primary contact with your clients ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction with responsibility for timeliness, accuracy and completeness of deliverables. On some engagements you will be leading a team of accounting staff and on others you may be providing only strategic level advice or identifying and guiding prospects through the sales cycle.
Our clients include cutting-edge startups, scale-ups, and private companies, in addition to VC- and PE-backed companies across a wide range of industries (Technology, SaaS, Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, eCommerce, Healthcare, CPG, FinTech, Real Estate, and more). We are looking for a CFO with a passion for business development with significant experience in these industries, especially those familiar with venture-backed companies and raising venture funds.

Primary Responsibilities for this role include:
Working directly with CEOs and executive teams to develop and execute finance strategy
Providing strategic business advice to clients
Sharing the Ascent CFO story and explaining our value-adds to prospective clients and referral partners
Preparing and maintaining financial models, rolling forecasts and cash-flow forecast
Managing the budgetary process and analyze budget vs. actual variances
Assisting clients in fundraising and/or M&A activity
Managing Ascent CFO and/or client resources to oversee/complete the month-end close and reporting packages
Onboarding clients which may include an assessment phase
Establishing and implementing appropriate accounting processes and internal controls
Identification and tracking of key trends and metrics
Development and maintenance of executive dashboards and KPI monitoring and reporting
Coordinating and managing the annual audit and tax return proces
Financial reporting to key Board of Directors members and shareholder
Utilizing cold calling, outreach, and networking to achieve results
Maintaining a strong sales pipeline that enables revenue targets to be overachieved
The Ideal Candidate:
15+ years of experience in accounting and finance roles, previous experience in full time CFO position
CPA license or MBA preferred
May not have formal Business Development or Sales experience, but you are a person who enjoys networking and sharing our story with new and old friends and asking for referrals. You enjoy the experience of closing a new client knowing they will be well taken care of
Experience as a strategic leader, most comfortable being the “right hand” to the CEO
Considerable experience with building financial forecast and cash flow models
Significant experience raising capital in the venture capital space
Passion for energetic leadership in the finance and accounting organization
A strong network to generate new business leads
Comfortable with being “hands-on” in accounting and ERP systems including QBOnline, NetSuite, Intacct, and other accounting packages
Strong experience with MS Excel and Google Sheets
Compensation: $130-140/hour based on experience plus robust and lucrative commission compensation
Location: Colorado based employee preferred, Remote role with some in-person meetings/events
