Job Details
Responsibilities:
Advise employers—including private businesses and public agencies—on a range of employment issues, such as workplace policies, employee relations, wage and hour compliance, and risk management.
Represent the organization in all legal proceedings, including mediations, arbitrations, and court trials.
Conduct thorough legal research to provide accurate and timely advice to the organization.
Prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and policies to ensure they are legally sound and in the best interest of the organization.
Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to develop defense strategies.
Stay abreast of changes in labor and employment laws and regulations to ensure the organization's compliance.
Provide training and guidance to management and HR personnel on labor and employment law matters.
Assist in managing the organization's litigation activities, including budgeting and reporting.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
Must be a member in good standing with the California State Bar.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably in a defense role.
Excellent legal research and writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice on complex labor and employment law issues.
Strong negotiation and representation skills, with a proven track record of successful dispute resolution.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Proven commitment to maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
