The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 12-month faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning May 1, 2025
This is an opportunity to join the accredited Physician Assistant Program located in the Bronx NY, home to multiple hospitals which partner with the program to support clinical placements. The surrounding community and student body are ethnically and culturally diverse, and the program focuses on preparing students for primary care in underserved communities.
The PA Program is part of the School of Health and Natural Sciences with 4 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies) and undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, exercise science, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology. We have a strong focus on interprofessional education as well as local and global community service.

Mercy University is seeking candidates for a full-time, multiple year track faculty position in the Physician Assistant Studies Program Faculty are encouraged to participate in professional development activities.
Faculty are responsible for curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation in both didactic and clinical components of the program, student advising, developing collaborative opportunities with community partners, and contributing to interprofessional education within the School and University. Faculty play a prominent role in the program’s ongoing self-study process.
This position includes an expectation of serving on University, School and Program committees and participating in scholarly activities.
Candidates with teaching experience should be familiar with the innovative use of technology in the classroom. Candidates must have a commitment to working in a multicultural setting. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications
Teach courses as assigned by the program director which includes curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation in both didactic and clinical components
Recommend ongoing program modifications based on outcome measures
Participate in interprofessional education activities within the School of Health and Natural Sciences
Service on program, School, and University Committees
Participate in the program’s ongoing self-study process
Participate in the program’s admissions process and assist with other responsibilities as determined by program leadership
Participate in the Program's community based primary care initiatives
Attend national conferences (American Academy of Physician Assistants, Physician Assistant Education Association, and National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistant) keeping abreast of professional trends
Qualifications

Education Requirements:
Masters Degree (MS, MPA, MPH, EdM) required
Doctoral degree preferred (EdD, DMSc, MD, or PhD)
Preference will be given to those applicants who are physician assistants with a minimum of a Master’s degree, current NCCPA certification, and licensure or eligibility for Physician Assistant licensure in New York State
