Small Engine Mechanic

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engines.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues in equipment.

Disassemble and reassemble engines to repair or replace defective components.

Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning and performance.

Provide excellent customer service, including explaining repairs and offering maintenance advice.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of small engine operation, repair techniques, and tools.

Experience with diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.

Ability to read technical manuals and diagrams.

Good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Effective communication skills, especially for interacting with customers.

Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment (e.g., wrenches, multimeters, compression testers).

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (some roles may require vocational training or certification in small engine repair).

Prior experience working with small engines or in a similar mechanic role is often preferred.

Certification from organizations like the Equipment & Engine Training Council (EETC) is a plus.Company Description

As a Legend Flagship Dealer, MMS provides carpet cleaning truck mount installations, janitorial chemicals and paper, can liners, service and parts. We also service other major brands of truck mounted and commercial floor care equipment.

MMS is a Spartan Chemical distributor.

Our 4,000 square foot heated and secured garage is fully capable of securely storing your cube truck and van—approximately 12 truck mounts. This service garage also provides additional showroom area for display of Prochem Truck Mounts Blazer XL, Legend XL, Peak, Apex, and the Everest HP650.

Since 1978, we have been located in the same location. MMS is a campus of buildings - built circa 1940 and fully restored. In addition to an 8,000 square foot showroom, there are two service garages for truck mount installations and service work.
