Interim to Hire - Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is a publicly traded, growth-oriented company in the clean technology sector, operating across North America and Europe.

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for overseeing the company’s external financial reporting and technical accounting matters. Key responsibilities include preparing SEC filings, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and supporting the adoption of new accounting standards. The position also provides opportunities to contribute to special initiatives and work closely with various departments across the organization.

This role is interim to hire and will convert to a permanent role for the right candidate.

Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-8, registration statements).

Coordinate all XBRL tagging and assist in preparation of Proxy materials.

Manage beneficial ownership reporting (Forms 3, 4, Rule 144 filings) in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Facilitate internal and external review processes, including legal counsel, auditors, and internal stakeholders.

Research complex accounting issues, prepare technical accounting memos, and oversee implementation of new guidance.

Prepare full financial statements, including footnotes, in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.

Support equity accounting functions, including stock-based compensation (ASC 718), EPS calculations, and cap table reporting.

Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Act as a primary liaison for external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.

Perform internal controls and support SOX compliance for reporting and accounting areas.

Participate in cross-functional special projects and process improvements related to accounting and finance operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA license or in progress strongly preferred.

Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including: Public company SEC reporting, Technical accounting research and memo drafting, 3+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred)

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, SOX 404, and external reporting requirements.

Experience with a cloud-based financial reporting platform (e.g., Workiva or similar) required.

ERP system experience (e.g., NetSuite or similar) a strong plus.

Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
