About the role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Hygiene professional to provide and project-manage high-level professional consulting services in occupational hygiene and occupational health & safety to a range of high-profile government and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Occupational Hygiene assessments

• Design and implementation of occupational hygiene and occupational health and safety programmes

• Assessment of noise for the purposes of hearing conservation and environmental compliance

• Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods assessments

• Confined Space programmes (assessments, monitoring, supervision of entry, etc.)

• Indoor air quality assessments (odour investigations, background monitoring, etc.)

• Heat Stress assessments (physiological monitoring, thermal environment monitoring, data interpretation, etc.)

• Lighting assessments

• Provision of advice on strategies for controlling hazards and minimising worker exposure, based on the hierarchy of controls

• Assessment of local exhaust ventilation systems

Qualifications and Experience

• University qualification in occupational hygiene, science, engineering, or a related discipline.

• Postgraduate qualifications in occupational hygiene and / or safety science.

• Full Membership with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists, Inc.

• Certified Occupational Hygienist (AIOH), and / or Certified Industrial Hygienist (ABIH).

• RABQSA Lead Auditor (Occupational Health and Safety) is highly desirable

• Minimum of 8 years’ work experience in Occupational Hygiene.

• Experience working in a professional consulting team environment.

To be successful you will need to demonstrate:

• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of occupational hygiene and assessment of workplace hazards; industrial processes, equipment, and materials used in the workplace; toxicological effects of chemicals and other occupational hazards; relationship between working conditions and health; fundamentals of chemistry, mathematics, physics, and engineering; instrumentation and sampling equipment for conducting occupational hygiene investigations / assessments; occupational health standards, codes, and regulations; highly developed report preparation, written and personal communication skills. The ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate, investigative, and narrative reports.
