Stripes and Stops Company, Inc., a leader in pavement markings, traffic control and signage located in Houston, TX is looking for a detail-oriented construction estimator to advise on the foreseeable cost of each of our civil construction projects. The candidate will obtain all relevant project specifications, determine the most appropriate materials, budget and plan to secure a successful and profitable completion of the objectives. The candidate should also research trends in the means and methods to determine if the estimate is reasonable and competitive. In addition to ensure success as our estimator, the candidate should be able to communicate the project requirements, cost initiatives, scheduling as well as the wherewithal for the targets to the rest of the team.

Estimator Responsibilities:

Collecting all pertinent documents including but not limited to: plans, project specifications, and submittals.

Studying aforementioned documentation, meetings with clients, vendors, various contractors (if applicable), and consulting the entire Stripes and Stops team with pertinent information for a successful project

Deciding on the most appropriate team participants and material/equipment resources for each project.

Outlining the work plan to gauge how much time will be needed to complete each development.

Performing risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan.

Accounting for the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate a competitive and fair price.

Drafting estimates that detail materials costs, labor costs, scheduling and time frames for completion.

Meeting with clients to discuss their thoughts and concerns about overall objectives and our estimates in general.

Estimator Requirements:

Degree in mechanical engineering, architecture, or similar work experience.

Demonstrable experience as an estimator.

Ability to forecast time and money management for our projects.

Knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical documents in civil construction.

Exceptional quantitative skills.

Outstanding research comprehension to communicate in writing.

Ability to negotiate with seasoned estimators and project management clients.

Dependable, detail oriented as a great listener/reader, communicative, conscientious, and professionally well-spoken.
