About the Role

Our talented team of Clinical Coders deliver accurate, thorough information for the health of our region.

You will be responsible for identifying and translating inpatient medical procedures, interventions and diagnoses into code using various systems such as ICD 10-AM 12th Edition, the Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI).

About the Service

Waikato Clinical Coding team provides a coding function that translates narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries and other health related problems and procedures into alpha-numeric codes.

The intended outcome is that accurate coded data is available within agreed timeframes that facilitate health care planning and funding, research and comparative data and statistical analysis at local, national and international levels.

The Clinical Coding team code approximately 10,000 events a month, provide a timely and accurate clinical coding function with a focus on Quality, Capability (individual and team productivity), through education, professional development, and process improvement.

About you

Applicants will need to clearly display strengths with managing multiple, high pressure high demand workflows, competing priorities, attention to detail with an excellent eye for detail and attention. Your command of the English language must be clear and concise both in own articulation and narrative and/or receiving and understanding.

A level of demonstrated experience or education is essential to be considered for the role along with working knowledge of computer-based systems such as Microsoft Office suite, ICD-10AM 12th Edition, HIMAA/NZ, ACE/ECC Coding qualification and/or software related directly to in-care hospital environments.
