General Job Description
Dogwood Industries is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead and oversee the company's QC program across both manufacturing facilities in Sedro-Woolley and Everett. The QC Manager is responsible for developing scalable inspection and quality control processes, ensuring compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.2, AISC, and other applicable standards, and fostering a culture of high ethics and continuous improvement.
This role directly supervises the QC Supervisors and the Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and serves as the senior leader for all inspection activities at Dogwood. The QC Manager will work closely with production, engineering, and project management teams, as well as with the Quality Management System (QMS) Manager, who serves as a peer focused on system-level quality management systems and process documentation.
The QC Manager will play a critical role in building Dogwood's long-term QC foundation and ensuring consistent execution of quality standards company-wide.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage the QC Supervisors and CWI, setting expectations, providing training, and ensuring accountability for quality performance
Develop, refine, and implement scalable QC processes, procedures, and inspection plans to meet Dogwood's current and future production needs
Ensure consistent compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.2, AISC, customer requirements, and Dogwood's internal quality standards
Drive root cause analysis and lead corrective action processes to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
Partner with production and engineering to proactively identify risks and implement solutions that reduce defects and rework
Represent Dogwood in customer and third-party inspections, audits, and certifications related to QC
Maintain and oversee the proper use of quality records, inspection reports, weld maps, NCRs, and other documentation
Ensure training and certification of welders and inspectors, including oversight of welder qualification testing through the CWI
Champion high ethical standards and quality-first culture within the production teams
Monitor key quality metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership

Requirements
Minimum 6+ years of experience in quality control within a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1/D1.2, AISC standards, weld inspection, and heavy manufacturing QC best practices
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Proven ability to lead teams, manage personnel, and build a scalable QC program
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience developing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) a plus
Experience working in an ERP/MRP system is a plus
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
This position requires moderate physical activity in a manufacturing and office environment. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently seated at a computer desk, utilizing a phone, and participating in meetings with colleagues. Walking extended distances from location to location in the factory complex and meeting with people in noisy or congested areas will be a common occurrence. The employee must be able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 40 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors.
Compensation
$90,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location
This is an onsite position at the either Dogwood Factory location at 3200 35th Ave NE, Everett, WA 98201 or 500 Metcalf Building M, Sedro Woolley, WA 98284. This role is based at a physical location, and in-person attendance is required. This is a full time position.
