Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PURPOSE: Material Handlers move, track, and store different materials, packaging, and equipment needed to support production of plastic parts. Material Handlers manage the organized flow of raw materials and finished goods between warehouse and production area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule material filing activities. Tending to machines, such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines, dryers, and hoppers to maintain product flow.
Clean the dryer, grinders, and conveying equipment completely.
Lifts heavy objects by hand or with hand truck or forklift and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist Operators. Operates forklift or hand truck to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Perform changeover activities utilizing barcode scanners and computer to locate, track and move material and packaging between warehouse and production area.
Deliver and maintain the appropriate material supply for each job.
Label all dryers with a Material Identification Tag.
Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination.
Retrieves packaging for Operators.
Wear all the required personal protective equipment. Assures and participates in all plant safety/accident prevention policies. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and following safe work practices.
Counts, weighs, and verifies raw materials. Supports mixing of material to conform to customer request for result product.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 6 months related work experience, previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Experience operating moving equipment such as forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks
Must be certified to operate equipment within 60 days from date of hire.
Ability to read and understand work instructions, manuals, and safety rules.
Experience using barcode scanners and WMS track materials.
Working with equipment such as dryers, hoppers, loaders, and conveyors is a plus.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
