We would like to announce the opening for a School Bus Driver position at the Castle Rock School District. The successful candidate must meet and continue to meet minimum requirements pursuant to WAC 180-20-101 (Initial requirements for school bus drivers).
Current Castle Rock School District classified employees who wish to transfer to this position and are currently qualified may express interest by completing the Internal application at

Under the general direction of the transportation supervisor, provides the safest and most expedient transportation services
For students and staff.
Essential Functions:
Safely drive any school bus and other fleet vehicles for daily to and from school routes, extra-curricular or athletic events, special education and/or other routes as directed.
Conduct pre- and post-trip safety inspections reporting all defects to supervisor/designee in writing.
Checks engine oil, coolant level and accessory drive belts prior to starting a cold engine and reports any deficiencies to the supervisor and/or mechanic.
Safely performs all tasks necessary to drive in adverse weather conditions i.e. ice, snow, high winds, high water, fog, rain, etc.
Trains all passengers in emergency procedures.
Assist in the loading/unloading of students with disabilities and others as needed.
Shows responsibility for the safety of all passengers by maintaining discipline and control.
Safely keeps to assigned time schedule
Maintain a safe driving record as described in the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) guide.
Responds quickly, physically and mentally, to fast changing and emergency conditions.
Performs necessary janitorial functions as directed.
Safely disposes of body fluids including blood, vomit, etc.
Immediately reports in writing all accidents involving self, vehicles, equipment and passengers.
Obeys all traffic laws and safety regulations for buses and fleet vehicles.
Maintains a record of regular attendance, arrives and departs at specified times and notifies appropriate personnel when they must be absent. Other Functions:

A high school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to work within a team concept.
Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks without direct supervision.
A positive attitude toward children and their families.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Criminal history fingerprint clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI at employees expense.
Valid Washington State driver’s license, CDL Class B and passenger endorsement with air brake restriction removed, and OSPI certification for driving school buses
Valid First Aid Card.
Must be able to pass Department of Transportation physical as required. Preferred Qualifications:
Recent successful school bus driving experience.
Demonstrated ability to relate to supervisors/administrators. Terms of Employment:
This position is for the duration of a given school year approximately nine months in length with salary starting at $25.94 per hour driving
and benefits that include Healthcare benefits (medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance),
retirement benefits, and 12 days of sick leave accruals. FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the classified collective bargaining agreement.
