Bookkeeper – Manufacturing
Location: Elizabeth, NJ On-site
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing company, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to join their finance team. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general accounting principles, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments including operations, purchasing, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets
Reconcile inventory and cost of goods sold accounts, working closely with plant operations and supply chain teams
Support fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules
Assist in the development of standard costs and cost variance analysis
Ensure compliance with internal accounting controls and support external audit requirements
Generate ad hoc financial reports and provide insight to support business decisions
Collaborate with accounts payable and receivable teams as needed to resolve discrepancies and maintain accuracy
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data and historical insights
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting
Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting a strong plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, NetSuite, etc.) preferred
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communicator with a team-oriented mindset
