JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Testing Lab Specialist contributes with oversight to the research, design characterization, verification and risk assessment of medical implants and instrumentations (power tools, digital robotics, etc.). The Specialist will work closely with System engineering team to execute test protocols to verify the safety and efficacy of the medical devices (implants and instrumentations). This is a hands-on role which touches on various engineering disciplines required for formal testing of complex medical device systems, including mechanical, electrical, optical, firmware and software. Additionally, the individual will have the opportunity to propose improvements to our existing processes to improve the team’s quality and efficiency.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specialist(s) will perform systems, electromechanical, and reprocessing testing under supervision to assess functional requirements of implants and instruments. Testing will support design characterization, verification, risk assessment and supplier changes of orthopedic implants and instrumentation. This includes communication with multiple disciplines, knowledge of testing apparatus/methodology, and data reporting.
Authors test protocols and test reports; documents test results and procedures.
Execute test protocols, report data, and generate test reports for review by the project teams
Analyze data using statistical analysis.
Maintains laboratory records.
Work in an agile development environment
Ensures adherence to all company safety policies and procedures and other safety precautions within the work area.
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties assigned as needed.
Clearly and professionally communicate test findings, technical challenges, and proposed resolutions to MedTEST members.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
0-2 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering
Experience in the Medical Device industry is preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
Hands-on experience with laboratory experiments per provided protocols (oscilloscopes, autoclaves, etc.)
Prior experience with medical device capital equipment is highly preferred
Prior experience or general knowledge in electro-mechanical fixture development and qualification is highly preferred
Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures
Ability to enter data on spread sheet and database applications
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with diverse team members
Skills required include verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, task management, problem solving, and mechanical aptitude
