Job Opening – UPS Industrial Services

Turnaround Estimator

The Turnaround Estimator will develop comprehensive and detailed industrial project cost estimates in support of industrial turnaround projects. This includes piping, exchangers, vessels, and mechanical. Estimations will be based on latest available cost information and data from internal and external sources. Estimator will prepare a written proposal letter, and provide required cost breakdowns.

This position will be based in Deer Park, TX.

Duties:

Preparing, developing, maintaining, and updating project capital cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cash flows. This includes short timeframe due dates

Work with internal project stakeholders to gather all relevant information in order to prepare accurate project estimates including Project Management, Procurement, and other departments as needed

Develop tools to enhance estimation competencies and produce accurate estimates in a timely fashion

Line-item estimates as needed, with the objective of achieving the most optimized estimates

Create and maintain unit-cost database and published cost indices to prepare estimates

Prepare comparison of current and previous estimates and actualized project costs

Develop and maintain intelligence regarding trends in cost of services, materials, and commodities in the various regions in which the company operates

Qualifications:

Advanced math abilities, a test will be required

Above average grammar skills to generate proposal letters

Analytical thinking, with the ability to multi-task

3+ years of experience in industrial services, with the ability to read construction drawings

Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and MS Word skills

Ability to prepare estimates and budgets with a high degree of accuracy

Ability to quickly learn the company’s existing estimating systems

Ability and willingness to travel as needed. This will usually be one day out-of-town, to perform a job walk; sometimes requiring an overnight stay
