Description:

The School-Based Clinician is responsible for providing clinical services, including prevention, early intervention, education, crisis intervention, consultation, and referral for assessment and treatment if needed for students within their assigned district building(s). The School-Based Clinician is also responsible for developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with district staff, families, and community stakeholders as appropriate for their position. In consultation with their direct supervisor, the School-Based Clinician is responsible for actively monitoring their caseload and schedule to allow for the most efficient provision of high-quality care to meet the needs of as many individuals as possible.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, public health, education, psychology, community development, public administration or closely related field. Master’s level preferred.

License: Must hold appropriate licensure as required by the State of Ohio to provide prevention/early intervention services (LSW, LPC, MFT, LISW, LPCC, IMFT).

Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in a social service agency preferred.

Skills: Ability to provide and develop child and family prevention services, ability to communicate articulately and effectively, and strong commitment to the coordination of services and working in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand in person and virtually. Ability to sit and/or remain stationary for extended periods. Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.

• Represent agency at designated community, partner agency and systems meetings.

• Provide information to coalitions/school program about substance abuse and mental health prevention programs and resources.

• Offer technical assistance and training resources to the school prevention program/coalitions/community group(s) in an effort to enhance the ability to prevent substance abuse and mental health disorders.

• Be responsive to requests for prevention services and information throughout the geographic area to provide or make available services to all populations and community-based coalitions, organizations and groups, as appropriate and as resources are available.

• Maintain documentation of services provided in a manner consistent with all regulations and standards of the agency as well as funding and accrediting bodies.

• Assist, as needed, with the creation and analysis of needs assessment(s) in the designated geographic area.

• Contribute to the development and updating of the Strategic Prevention Framework. Assist with planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Strategic Prevention Framework strategies.

• Prepare and submit the service provision summaries as required by community partners.

• Proficiency with technology, Microsoft Office programs, electronic health records, and telehealth platforms.

• Attend and participate in agency meetings as appropriate for licensure and position.

• Work with supervisors and/or management staff to ensure that the school-based prevention program is compliant with all regulations, standards, and policies of funding and accrediting bodies, including ensuring that the prevention programs are operating in accordance with the CARF and Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services prevention certification standards.
