Must Haves:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Commercial real estate experience (brokerage, property management, or development) strongly preferred
• Proficiency in software such as Yardi, Skyline, Microsoft Access, and Excel
• Strong team leadership, development, and communication skills
• Proven ability to present financials clearly and collaborate with ownership groups
• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
Position Overview
We're looking for a strategic, detail-oriented, and experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of both our brokerage and property management divisions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting, a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, and excellent communication skills-especially in working with ownership groups and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Own all accounting and financial operations for the properties we manage, including financial reporting and budgeting, general ledger integrity, accounts payable, and accounts receivable/cash application.
Manage cash flow across a diverse group of properties and ownership groups, each with unique objectives.
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Prepare and present timely, accurate financial statements-along with strategic insight to ownership groups, senior leadership, and external partners.
Ensure full compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
Partner with the property management team to ensure accuracy in property-level financials, CAM reconciliations, and budget oversight.
Support the implementation of new accounting, HR, and management systems as needed.
Oversee third-party audits and coordinate tax preparation in collaboration with external accountants.
Assist the CFO with the annual healthcare insurance renewal process.
Serve on the company's 401(k) Advisory Board and contribute financial and operational recommendations.
Continuously identify and implement improvements to systems, processes, and financial controls.
