CEI’s entertainment client is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join their team!

Job at a glance:

Long- term contract, with an initial term of 22 months. Could be converted to FTE

Schedule: Monday – Friday 5:00 AM–2:00 PM PST (1-hour lunch break)

This is an onsite position in Anaheim, CA

Will be assessing and cataloguing the inventory of instrumentation systems across 320+ buildings on a 500+ acre resort. 50/50 split between field and office work

Seeking candidates experienced with a 4-year technical degree in engineering, instrumentation (heating & chilled water for hydraulics) and PLC systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of instrumentation systems for large-scale facilities and utilities. This role focuses on improving the accuracy, monitoring, and control of chilled water, heating hot water, domestic water, natural gas, and compressed air metering systems. This is an onsite role, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance system efficiency and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Inventory, evaluate, and plan for repair, replacement, and calibration of instrumentation and metering systems.

Assess and catalog instrumentation across 500+ acre resort

Inventory 320+ buildings' instrumentation systems

Check and validate: Instrument locations, Drawing accuracy, Part numbers, Manufacturer support, Proper flow meter specifications, Instrument functionality

Key Systems to Focus On: Chilled water systems, Heating hot water systems, Hydronic systems, Domestic water meters, Natural gas meters, BTU meters

Design, install, and maintain instrumentation and control systems across facilities and utilities campus-wide.

Develop and implement utility metering solutions for a range of systems including chilled water, heating hot water, domestic water, natural gas, and compressed air.

Perform hands-on calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of sensors, meters, and control equipment.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to develop strategies for optimization and ensure seamless repairs or upgrades.

Ensure compliance with internal safety regulations, industry standards (ISA, ANSI, IEC, API, ASME), and internal specifications.

Analyze system data trends to drive efficiency and reduce costs.

Support system automation and integration with building management systems (BMS).

Produce technical documentation, project specifications, and reports.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, with a focus on facility systems and utility metering.

Experience specifying, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature sensors, RTDs, and other instrumentation.

Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols.

Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD and Revit.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Experience with MODBUS Serial and Ethernet and other industrial communication protocols.

Experience in wiring, configuring, troubleshooting, and testing various types of instrumentation and utility meters.

Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and test equipment usage (voltmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)

Experience with utility monitoring of chilled water, heating hot water, domestic water, natural gas, and compressed air.

Experience with the operation of large multi-building campuses and facility controls integration.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 8+ years of proven experience in Ladder Logic Programming on Allen-Bradley PLCs using RSLogix 5000.

AVEVA Wonderware, DAS, and Historian experience.

Understanding of system-level considerations and basic mechanical principles – pumps, valves, pressurized systems, fans, compressed air, and air dryer systems.

Strong knowledge of industry standards (ISA, ANSI, IEC, API, ASME).

Ability to interpret and develop P&IDs, Sequence of Operations, and experience with Central Energy Plant Systems.

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Preferred: Degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering or Mechanical PE License
