Role Overview
The Vice President of Finance, HR, and Legal Affairs will oversee all financial operations, human resources, and legal functions across TVU Networks’ global footprint. In this multifaceted role, you will lead and mentor regional accountants, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, standardize policies and procedures, and cultivate key banking relationships. Additionally, you will manage HR operations in collaboration with our HR service provider, Insperity, and oversee legal affairs in coordination with internal legal professionals and external law firms. You will work closely with the CEO and other department heads to provide insights that drive sound strategic decisions.
This position is primarily operational, with a strong emphasis on building fundamental infrastructure across finance, HR, and legal domains. As TVU Networks continues to grow, there is potential for this role to expand in scope, potentially evolving into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial data from multiple international entities.
• Maintain compliance with local and international regulatory requirements and tax obligations.
2. Accounting & Controls
• Develop, implement, and monitor standardized accounting policies and procedures across global operations.
• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Coordinate external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and relevant stakeholders.
3. Finance Operations & Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop a global accounting team, including local finance managers and external accounting partners.
• Implement best practices in cash management, treasury, and working capital.
• Manage the finance department budget and resource allocation.
4. Banking & External Relationships
• Establish and nurture relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.
• Negotiate credit facilities and other financing arrangements in alignment with the company’s needs and risk profile.
5. Financial Planning & Analysis
• Collaborate with executive leadership on annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Provide insights on cost management, revenue optimization, and profitability.
• Develop financial models, KPIs, and dashboards to inform strategic decisions.
6. Human Resources Management
• Oversee HR functions in collaboration with Insperity, our HR service provider.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across all regions.
• Coordinate with Insperity to manage payroll, benefits administration, and employee relations.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to support organizational growth and employee engagement.
7. Legal Affairs Oversight
• Manage legal operations in coordination with internal legal professionals and external law firms.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where TVU Networks operates.
• Oversee contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements.
• Handle legal matters related to corporate governance, intellectual property, and risk management.
8. Systems & Process Improvement
• Evaluate current financial systems and processes; identify opportunities for automation and streamlining.
• Lead the implementation of new tools or ERP systems as needed to support global scalability.
9. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with HR, Operations, Sales, and other departments to align financial goals with overall company objectives.
• Present financial performance updates, risk assessments, and key metrics to stakeholders, including the CEO and potential board/advisors.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA/CPA/Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience:
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance, with additional experience in HR and legal affairs.
• Proven track record in an international or multi-entity environment; experience overseeing multiple foreign subsidiaries/operations is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated success implementing financial systems, controls, and processes.
• Experience managing HR functions, preferably in collaboration with external service providers.
• Familiarity with legal operations, including contract management and compliance.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools; experience leading ERP implementation or upgrades a plus.
• Excellent command of Excel and financial modeling.
• Leadership & Communication:
• Ability to manage and motivate distributed teams across time zones and cultures.
• Strong presentation skills, able to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• Proven track record of collaborating with executive teams to support strategic decision-making.
