Job Description
Norfolk Collegiate School is seeking a dynamic and talented part-time Band Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. This position will teach Middle School Band two mornings per week and Upper School Band two mornings per week.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for music education, a love of working with students in grades 6-12, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment. The band teacher will develop students' musical skills, encourage creative expression, and prepare ensembles for performances throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Middle School Band two mornings per week.
Teach Upper School Band two mornings per week.
Prepare students for concerts, school events, and other performances.
Run the sound system for major school events and performances.
Build a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
Collaborate with the Fine Arts Department and other faculty members.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school leadership.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in music education, music performance, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
Experience teaching band at the middle and/or upper school level.
Strong instrumental music background with the ability to teach a variety of instruments.
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
A commitment to the mission and values of Norfolk Collegiate School.
