Job Description
Seeking to hire 1 full-time Medical Receptionist for Ophthalmology practice to join our team. Main responsibilities will be to answer phones, schedule patient new patients, check out patients and schedule established follow up examinations for the doctor's schedule. Verify Insurance and answer phone messages. Other reception duties as needed.
1 year medical general experience is highly preferred but not required. Pay based on experience and proven skill sets.
Successful candidates must be a TEAM PLAYER, self-motivated, professional, confident, have a positive attitude about taking care of patients and learning, and display the highest level of professionalism with patient care and other employees. On the job direct one-on-one training from Office Manager, billing manager, lead receptionists, and clinical educators. In office educational printed and online material provided. Office pays for continuing education reimbursement. Opportunity for short term certifications and longer term career goals are available through the clinic.
Position as receptionist requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice (training on job) and insurance coverage, definite attention to detail and natural ability for organization, excellent computer skills, ability to communicate with patients, surgeons, coworkers and supervisors and a willingness to help in all areas.
Reception/Surgery Coordinator Responsibilities and Duties
Maintains schedule for doctor(s)
Communicates with patients
Scheduling and rescheduling patients
Verifying Insurance requirements
Schedules preop appointments
Patient consent signing
Transportation requirements
Financial requirements
Financial hardship assistance
Medical records
eFax patient information
Contacts facilities for scheduling
Calls for necessary preauthorizations
Coordinates paperwork
Maintains patient confidentiality
Attends required meetings
Keeping a clean workspace and maintaining front office
Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Experience with EHR, PM system, Excel and Word required

MUST possess Excellent communication skills
