Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated CNC Lathe Programmer/Machinist with experience on Okuma Lathes. You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components that meet our exacting standards.

CNC Machinist Job Duties:

Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.

Loads feed mechanism by load stock manually or utilizing barfeed.

Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to international standards.

Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs and implementing any required engineering changes.

Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years proven experience as CNC lathe programmer and machinist

Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools

Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings

Computer savvy with full understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM

Mechanical aptitude and good math skills

A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach

Good communication abilities

High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus. Must be a conscientious self-motivated individual
