Job Title: Appian Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) – IRES Contract

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Clearance Requirement: Active DoD Secret Clearance (Mandatory)

Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000 per year

Summary:

OSAAVA are seeking an experienced Appian Architect/SME to support the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract in Colorado Springs. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and deployment of Appian-based solutions, ensuring alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards and integration within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on expertise in Appian and a strong understanding of DoD compliance frameworks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and architect scalable Appian BPM solutions tailored to MDA requirements.

• Lead the development and implementation of Appian applications, ensuring best practices are followed.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Appian solutions with existing systems and databases.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, SOPs, and user guides.

• Ensure solutions comply with DoD cybersecurity policies, including RMF and NIST frameworks.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers and stakeholders on Appian capabilities and best practices.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance processes to ensure robust and secure applications.

• Stay updated with the latest Appian features and DoD compliance requirements to ensure continuous improvement.

Essential Experience:

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years focused on Appian BPM platform.

• Proven experience in designing and deploying Appian applications in a DoD or federal environment.

• Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity processes, including RMF, NIST SP 800-53, and DISA STIGs.

• Experience with integration of Appian solutions with other enterprise systems and databases.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Certifications:

• Appian Certified Lead Developer or higher.

• CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II compliant).

Preferred but Not Essential:

Experience:

• Familiarity with the IRES contract and MDA operations.

• Experience with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS or Azure.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field.

• Experience with other BPM tools and platforms.

Certifications:

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
