Position Summary:
Antilles School seeks a passionate and experienced educator to serve as the Middle School 6th Grade Lead Teacher. This position plays a key role in delivering the core academic curriculum and supporting the transition of students into the Middle School experience. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, student-centered educator with a strong background in interdisciplinary instruction across Math, Science, STEM, and Physical Education.
This role requires a commitment to inquiry-based learning, hands-on student engagement, and a willingness to partner closely with colleagues to develop a unique and developmentally appropriate 6th-grade program. The Lead Teacher will also contribute to building a strong community and supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Core Responsibilities:
Instructional Excellence
Design and implement developmentally appropriate, student-centered lessons that support differentiated learning
Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student learning and progress
Maintain gradebooks and design assessments aligned with curricular goals
Integrate relevant technology and interdisciplinary connections into instruction
Provide academic support to students before and after school, as needed
Commitment to Whole-Child Development
Support students’ social and emotional development
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and respected
Serve as an advisor within the school’s advisory program, building relationships and supporting student growth
Collaboration and Collegiality
Communicate regularly and proactively with parents/guardians regarding student progress
Maintain open and professional communication with colleagues and school community members
Attend and engage meaningfully in faculty meetings, division meetings, and professional development opportunities
Actively participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
Strong content knowledge across multiple subject areas (Math, Science, STEM, PE)
Demonstrated understanding of middle school pedagogy and adolescent development
Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Technological proficiency in education platforms and tools
Collaborative, positive, and self-directed professional with attention to detail
