Lead Lifeguard

General Purpose

This position assists the Pool Manager with the overall operation of the Globe Community Center Pool, creating an environment of quality customer service, ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; and ensuring the safety of all who use the facility.

Examples of Duties

* Oversee all lifeguard and pool staff activities and professionalism under the direction of the Pool Manager.

* Oversee daily opening, operations, and closing of the pool.

* Implement and monitor activities, procedures and policies related to the operation of the pool.

* Responds to requests, complaints or issues, and resolves conflicts.

* Communicate with Pool Manager and/or Public Works regarding safety or operational issues.

• Administer lifesaving techniques and first aid.

• Supervise and participate in the issuance, use, care and maintenance of aquatic supplies and equipment.

• Communicate positively and effectively with co-workers, parents, pool patrons, program participants, coaches, and volunteers.

• Participate in staff training sessions and lifesaving techniques and drills.

• Provide support for access to programs, buildings, and services.

• Maintain discipline in and around swimming pool areas; create and maintain a safe environment for patrons.

• Support the City’s policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures.

• Performs rescue and administers artificial respiration, CPR and first aid.

• Checks the proper maintenance of equipment and sanitation of pools and bathhouse facilities.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must have at least one season of lifeguard experience at the Globe Community Pool.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Must be available for the entire pool season (May through October)

Excellent communication skills, both orally and written

Ability to provide quality customer service and conflict resolution

Knowledge and awareness of when to close the pool for safety reasons

Lifeguard, Water park, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications from a professionally recognized provider such as American Red Cross, Ellis or Starfish.

Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
