About the position
CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Second Officer to join our cement carrier Goliath. This operation is based in the Bass Strait. Reporting to the Chief Officer, the Second Officer’s primary task is navigation watch keeper at sea and as Duty Cargo Officer when in port.
In addition, the Second Officer will be responsible for:
Maintaining charts and nautical publications;
Ensuring that chats applicable to the voyage are corrected to the latest Notices received prior to sailing;
Passage Planning and prior to departure provides the plan for Master’s verification;
The maintenance of radio publications and for ensuring that the Radio Log is completed promptly;
Monitoring condition of Bridge equipment such as the course recorder, gyros, etc;
The maintenance of all Emergency Equipment delegated by the Chief Officer
Being the Designated Medical Officer;
Any other duties as required.
About you
Educational requirement: As per AMSA Marine Order 71 (mandatory)
Minimum 12 months sea time as a Deck Watchkeeper (required)
MSIC Card (required or ability to obtain)
Working Safely at Heights (required or ability to obtain)
Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (required or ability to obtain)
Current AMSA Medical (required or ability to obtain)
Australian Citizen or Valid Work Visa (required)
Living in Australia
