Job Summary:

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity initiatives. This key personnel role will lead efforts related to the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) of complex IT systems, applying NIST 800-53 controls and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to support a secure enterprise infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF, and NIST-based A&A processes

Guide the authorization of information systems, including vulnerability assessments and security control evaluations

Analyze security postures of complex IT environments like DLA’s, including applications, enclaves, and outsourced IT services

Determine severity values for vulnerabilities and assess their impact on authorization status

Brief senior leadership on security status and A&A progress

Support cybersecurity processes for emerging technologies including Cloud, OT, ICS, and warehouse execution systems

Conduct in-depth authorization reviews for large-scale government systems

Required Skills & Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience with RMF and NIST A&A processes

Strong background in DoD cybersecurity practices and controls assessment

Proven experience evaluating security controls for large and complex infrastructures

Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Knowledge of securing Cloud, OT, and ICS environments

Active DoD Secret Clearance with IT-II (Tier 3) or higher

For CERT team roles: DoD TOP SECRET Clearance with IT-I (Tier 5) and CSSP-Analyst certification

DoD 8570 IAM Level III certification
