Furnace Operator
Shift: 1st shift - 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
2nd shift 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
Pay: Starting at $23.40 per hour.
Job Description:
The IQ Furnace Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe & efficient operation of all All case cell equipment. Properly scheduling work to be done, inspecting, loading, unloading, programing & monitoring furnaces will be the focus for this role. Promptly reporting any concerns to the shift foreman will be crucial.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Operator will be responsible for the following set up & monitoring
Temperature controller
Over-temperature controller
Chart recorders
Furnace thermo-couples
Agitation monitoring
Proper loading & racking of parts to minimize distortion
Understand tempering guidelines based off of actual AQ hardness readings
Learn start up, loading & shut down procedures for each piece of equipment in cell
Operator will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the generator
Proper gas flows including the following
Natural gas
Endothermic gas
Nitrogen gas
Ammonia gas
Oil temperature monitoring â cooling / heating / levels
Startup/shut down procedure
Daily monitoring of retort temperature & dewpoint
Operations of cryo-genic boxes including the following
Loading/unloading
Temperature controller settings
Startup/shut down
Determine proper inspection location for AQ testing per
ASTM E-18 Rockwell hardness testing
ASTM E-10 Brinell hardness testing
ASTM A 956 Leeb hardness testing
Understand Tagging & Transfer Procedure
Safe & efficient operations of all production equipment
Prioritize processing based on schedule
Perform inspection using correct methods
Document & report any maintenance issues to shift foreman
Ensure plant organization & cleanliness
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Acquire/maintain forklift certification
Experience: prior factory work preferred
Hard Skills:
Basic computer skills
Basic math knowledge
Proficient physical shape- able to lift 25 lbs. regularly
English reading proficiency
