We are currently seeking a highly skilled and solutions-oriented Data Center IT/Network Administrator to support and enhance the performance of our mission-critical infrastructure. This key role encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities, including application support, network and systems administration, security oversight, backup and disaster recovery planning, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of IT and networking principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong commitment to automation, process documentation, and adherence to security best practices. As a core member of our operations team, this individual will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity, availability, and security of our data center environment, ensuring business continuity and service excellence.

As a Data Center IT/Network Administrator at GTA Data Centers, you’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our network and systems infrastructure. You'll manage and optimize critical network components—like routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs—while ensuring uptime, security, and reliability through proactive monitoring, patching, and structured troubleshooting. From maintaining detailed network diagrams to executing upgrades with minimal disruption, you’ll be a key player in keeping our environment running smoothly and securely. Beyond networking, this role dives into systems and server administration, virtualization, cloud identity management, and disaster recovery planning. If you’re adaptable, detail-driven, and ready to own infrastructure health from end to end, this position offers a dynamic, mission-critical opportunity to make a real impact. The Data Center IT/Network Administrator reports directly to the Sr. Vice President, Operations.
Network Administration:
Configure, install, and maintain data center network infrastructure, including routers, switches (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), firewalls, and load balancers.
Manage and troubleshoot network protocols and services: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, VPNs.
Plan and execute network upgrades, firmware updates, and patching while minimizing operational impact.
Monitor network performance, availability, and security; respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
Manage physical layer connectivity, including structured cabling (copper/fiber), patching, and troubleshooting.
Maintain accurate network diagrams and documentation.
Systems & Server Administration:
Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers (Windows and Linux environments).
Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox).
Manage identity and access control using Azure Active Directory / Entra ID and traditional Active Directory Domain Services. Implement and enforce Group Policies.
Perform routine OS patching, firmware upgrades, and hardware maintenance on server infrastructure.
Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; proactively address potential issues.
Develop, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Develop scripts in Windows and Linux environments to automate routine tasks, monitoring, and reporting.
Create and automate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for infrastructure health and performance analysis.
Security Management & Compliance:
Implement, manage, and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls across network and system infrastructure.
Configure and manage firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDPS), and other security appliances.
Identify, assess, and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities; participate in incident response activities.
Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 27001), conduct internal audits, and support external audits.
Manage system and network hardening procedures.
Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Candidates must show:
Networking Expertise: Knowledge of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP suite), routing protocols (OSPF), switching (VLANs, STP), firewalls, VPNs, and network security principles.
Systems Administration: Familiar with administering Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
Azure Cloud: Able to quickly learn Active Directory / Azure AD / Entra ID to support infrastructure.
Virtualization: Experience managing enterprise virtualization platforms.
Security Acumen: Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, firewalls, IDPS, access control, and vulnerability management. Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001).
Automation/Scripting: Demonstrable proficiency in scripting, particularly Python, for automation in both Windows and Linux.
Backup & Recovery: Knowledge of BDR strategies, technologies, and testing methodologies.
Troubleshooting: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to resolving complex network and system issues.
Documentation: Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear, concise documentation and procedures.
Communication & Teamwork: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively.
Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and adapt to a fast-paced, critical environment.
This is what you need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, OR equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and work experience.
3-5 years of progressive experience in IT systems and network administration, specifically within a data center or similar critical environment.
Vendor Experience: Hands-on experience configuring and managing enterprise-grade network equipment (e.g., Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Juniper Junos) and firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).
OS/Virtualization: Proven experience administering recent Windows Server versions, common Linux distributions, and VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
Monitoring Tools: Experience using network and system monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, Datadog).
Cloud: Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID is required. Broader experience with IaaS/PaaS (Azure/AWS) is a plus.
Certifications: Relevant certifications are advantageous (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, CCNA/CCNP, MCSA/MCSE equivalents, VCP-DCV, Azure Administrator)
Maintain a valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain/maintain a US Passport.
