Job Description

Overview

Under limited supervision coordinates and delivers initial and ongoing education for assigned applications in support of the strategic vision and planning for University of Maryland Medical System, a multi-billion dollar, regional healthcare system. Follows a systematic delivery process for effective and efficient learning to provide functional knowledge of the applications and support overall business operations. Administers proficiency assessment to ensure comprehension of curriculum. Designs/revises training materials and creates activities to support curriculum. Ensures readiness of training rooms and materials for classes. This position is responsible for systemwide training of users accessing assigned applications.

Key Responsibilities

Delivers training for new hires and end user support for existing hires including refresher and upgrade/optimization training. Promotes effective use of system applications. Manages training requests by evaluating and assigning appropriate curriculum based on role and system needs. Coordinates and schedules training at onsite and offsite locations. Administers end-user proficiency assessments and maintains training records in accordance with departmental guidelines. Ensures end user questions/concerns are addressed either at the time of class or after as needed, documenting them on a parking lot board and researching prior to follow up.

Develops and maintains curricula including lesson plans, manuals, tip sheets and supporting learning tools utilized in training and as system updates occur and training needs evolve. Collaborates with the IT application team to build and maintain the training environment in alignment with operational processes. This includes data collection, workflow analysis, system configuration, testing, and support. Participates in application deployment and procedure documentation for system updates and releases. Tests lesson plans and training environment build to verify adherence to current workflows.

Coordinates logistics associated with training delivery for onsite and offsite locations, including copying and assembling printed materials, classroom setup, travel kit preparation, maintenance of training room, webinar setup and cleanup. Ensures availability of technical resources, training materials and supplies, and confirms proper operation of computers and all equipment. Manages training room schedule and coordinates all reservation requests.

Meets with operational leaders to assess end user needs and ensure the quality, validity and integrity of all training. Evaluates the effectiveness of training and development programs and utilizes relevant data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods. Identifies trends that may require system modification. Participates in process improvement initiatives and engages in training innovation and enrichment.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience

Four (4) years’ experience in finance/operations in a healthcare environment and/or education/training

Licensures/Certifications

Epic proficiency/certification within six (6) months of completing orientation.

Preferred

Education

Bachelor’s degree in education or health related field with educational courses.

Experience

Two (2) years’ end user training experience in EPIC or other clinical/business operations information system.

Licensures/Certifications

Epic Resolute Hospital Billing Credentialed Trainer Status
